Discovering My City Through Exercise

DC is fairly a small town when you are a runner (or bicyclist). After a while, the routes you take tend to become fairly routine and a little boring. But when it's a beautiful and crisp January Saturday morning at 45 degrees and you're dressed pretty warmly, well DC is just perfect. Here are a few photos taken by my IPhone during my 7 mile run yesterday, Saturday. The good thing about have an IPhone: taking photos as you run by a monument, or a statue, or just a cool building.

Statue of Albert Einstein at Constitution Avenue by the Academy of Sciences Building - one of my favorite statues.

As many of you may know, I've been training for the upcoming Rock and Roll Half Marathon scheduled on March 17th.  This will be my first half marathon and while I feel pretty confident I can finish the run, though I'm not sure I'll be really fast. I'll be glad just to get to the finish line.

I have approximately 12 weeks to build up my mileage of 13.1 miles.  That's pretty far for me...and to think people actually run 26.2 miles, AND swim, AND bike.  I don't think I'm cut out for that kind of training (I can barely swim a lap at a pool), but you never know because that's what I used to say about running and bicycling.

Anyway, 30 mile bicycle ride today depending the weather, although I am feeling quite comfy and lazy sitting at home right now.

Have a wonderful Sunday.
