Conservative me!

jacket: DKNY
top: ATL via ebay
necklace: Banana Republic
belt: F21
pants: ATL
teal shoes: ATL  T-straps (old)
brown wedges: ATL (old)

Not a wonderful day for a jacket because it was 97 degrees out and humid. Still, this was work appropriate and i didn't feel too conservative until the belt and jacket came off later. You have to get comfortable after a while.

Long Weekends Mean Trouble

shoes: Nine West Sophias

I went shopping Saturday to get a new battery for the Mac, then wandered through Nordstrom and saw that it was their yearly sale. I was good though and didn't buy anything there. I did however stop off at Nine West and bought a pair of nude gladiator (Sophias) sandals which were on sale. DH made me stop off at VS too. Ugh, I really don't like this store but whatever.

The Day After....

top: Anthropologie
belt: TJ Maxx
skinny pants: ATL
shoes: Ebay

This was the outfit I wore to Jazz in the Garden.  Good enough for Friday casual work and good enough for the hot day. It was a bit too crowded as you see below and the sangria eventually did it's thing.  We ended up leaving before the thunderstorms began and ended up in an Irish Pub.

crazy crowded, huh??

Okay so I wasn't feeling to good this morning, maybe a tad bit dehydrated from the heat. It was a bit warm though and the the place got a bit too crowded and everyone was in our personal space after a while. Next time we'll sit outside of the Garden in the National Mall area and listen to the jazz and have decent conversation.

Winding Down for Memorial Day

worn to work yesterday with a black jacket, not shown
dress: Nine West
shoes: Ebay
(see the poinsettias - I've had them since Xmas and they are doing quite well)

Yes, the Memorial Day weekend officially begins at the Jazz in the Garden happy hour which features an array of jazz artists performing a range of styles—from swing to progressive to Latin—every Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden. Tonight's band is Origem (Brazilian jazz) which I'm looking forward to seeing.

The high point of all this is the inexpensive $18 delicious (but toxic) pitchers of sangria, along with great music, lots of good snacks and people watching. The hard part will be trying to take photos of outfits without people noticing.  Okay, maybe dear hubby can take photos of me.

Going out....

necklace: gold beads from ebay
gold mesh bag: mom's
dress: F21
shoes: Nine West

I've been to quite a few weddings this year so going off from yesterday's post here's a color block dress I wore to my sister-in-laws wedding in Negril, Jamaica in January. Unfortunately, all the photos on the beach were not flattering so I'll use this is one I took at home. I did not wear those shoes on the beach though. :)  I'll definitely have to retake the photo of this dress.

When I wore this dress to the beach, one of the young ladies asked me if it was designer label and just smiled and said yes. I was so giddy about it because she had no clue I payed $24 for it. Gotta love those moments.

San Francisco Days Of Yore!!

me, Michael, Jennie, and my dearest hubby
dress: Nine West

I can't believe how time goes by so quickly.  Just last month I was in San Francisco at my dear friend Michael's wedding in Palo Alto, CA.  I found a  photo that I looked pretty decent in.  The dress was a Nine West dress that I had purchased at Macy's about a year ago which I never wore and had these large poppies. Little did I know that California's state flower was the poppy and they were blooming everwhere.

Too Early For Me!!

What's up with me waking up at 6:00 a.m. these days? I must be the age thing because it seems those days of sleeping in are over.  It is also an advange: at least that gives me some time to make coffee, check on blogs, and think about my day and the dreaded "what to wear?".   These are not flattering photos of my outfits but I'm posting anyway.

top: ATL via Ebay
pants: ATL
shoes: Steve Maddens

jacket: Ebay

necklace: Banana Republic

My morning didn't start too well either. I ended up running late for work because for the life of me I couldn't figure out what to wear to work. With the s-load of clothes I have, nothing seemed to fit right. It was either too big or too sheer or too short, but I finally opted for dark blue slacks, a red floral sleeveless top and a khaki jacket with my new goldish necklace from BR. I guess I looked okay, although my pants have a funny fit. (Oh and I'm wearing gold - when did that happen? (not that there's anything wrong with that ;).

Oh, in case no one knows, I've lost about 20 lbs. from about 1.5 years ago so you can understand my dilemma of  ill fitting clothes.

Monday, Monday...Oh what wear???

cardigan: ATL
striped top: Talbots
belt: F21
black skinny pants: ATL
shoes: Sketchers

It's off to work again and it's becoming quite a struggle to figure out what to wear these days. Here are the reasons why:
  1. DC weather sucks.  One day it's 60 degrees, the next it is 95.
  2. I also ride my bike to work and while it's only 3 miles, I don't don the full bike regalia.  I do wear my work clothes and try to look doing it. :) There's no harm in looking good on a bike.
  3. I like skirts, but either it's too fluttery or too tight (not great for biking) or I haven't shaved the legs.
  4. I have way too much clothes so there are no excuse for not having anything to wear. Heck, didn't I just get 6 newish ATL suits from my sister?  I can dress that up for sure.

Boston - the City That Never.....?????

The weather in Boston was miserable!!!  It was a cold 60s and misty, not even a peep of sun until Saturday which ended up to be cold and foggy by 5 p.m. I did, however, get a chance to shop at the Galleria over at Lechmere.  I know what you're thinking:  you go to Boston and shop at another mall like they don't have malls over here!! Hey I was with my mom and my sister (who only shops for function...ah, quelle dommage !!)

So what did I really buy? Well not the hat from Aldo because it was quite pricey at $25 although I really, really did like it.  Maybe I'll go back.

hat: Aldo
raincoat: Nine West
bag: Coach

necklace: purchased from Old Navy this past Friday, Boston
bag: my coach bag
all else, my stuff
bad hair day for short hair

Anyway, the pluses - I snagged 4 suits from my sister's goodwill bag that don't fit her anymore!!   Those I do need for work. Oh,  and got a few pieces of jewelry to jazz up the suits. No shoes unfortunately.  :)

Off to Boston...

jacket: Ann Taylor
top: Tommy Hillfiger
jeans: Levi's
wedges: Aerosoles

I have a tendency to wear the same pair of shoes often. I don't know why because god  knows I have 50+ pairs of shoes in the closet just sitting there waiting to be worn. And I have. And I will. Really.  As my dear hubby always says, for every pair of shoes I buy,  I must get rid of 2.  Now what kind of thinking is that?  :)

It's off to Boston to visit the sis. Unfortunately, the weather may not permit me to enjoy the outdoors as much or take photos. To top it off, mom is coming too. Hmmm.  This should be an interesting weekend.

I guess I'll be taking my laptop with me. :)

Hump Day already!!! It's my Friday

cardigan: HM
top: Anthroplogie
pants: ATL
wedges: Aerosoles

I can't NOT not wear dark pants. Whether it's dark jeans or black pants or skirts, they will always be my staples in wardrobe.  Plus, the dark colors do make one look thinner on the camera...at least I feel they do.  I may have to try on some khaki pants, if I can find a pair in my closet.

I'm heading out to Boston tomorrow, so probably won't post anything until I get back, unless I take my laptop. I'm thinking  a little shopping, a little photography (if it doesn't rain). Maybe I'll have more fashion photos, but maybe I won't.  :)

Casual day Monday

top: Jones NY via Macy's
skirt: Banana Republic
shoes: Anne Klein flats

We have those days at work where you can be quite casual.  In my line of work, we may have a week to dress down but still dress in a business casual manner.  I'm all for jeans in the workplace but if worn professionally.  Anyhoo, I did not wear jeans today but opted for a skirt and a striped shirt. I kinda like the mod structure of it.

Concerts and Such....

jacket: HM
jeans: Levi's 512 straight legs
shoes: Steve Madden's

Yes, I still go to rock concerts.  I've always been a music fan and to this day nothing has changed.  I still discover the new and old all over again and reminisce of the times gone by.

Which brings me to the Echo and the Bunnymen concert that I attended last week.  For the life of me I had no idea what to wear to a concert? Of course, I couldn't dress like the teenager I used to be: the black wearing, red lipstick wearing, pouty girl with a woe-is-me-attitude.  But I ended up wearing an updated version:  jeans and a black leather jacket with platform heels. I can still try, right?  :)

Back to the Echo concert. I decided to take a photo by IPhone and unfortunately Ian decided to play with no spotlight on him throughout the whole show. Photos were all fuzzy too. Hello?  What's up with that?  We're all aging baby.  You're not the only one.

By the time the show was over at 11:45 (way past my bed time), we walked home 2 blocks away. Ah, the conveniences of living in the city. :)

Hello my pretty....

Shoes:  Anthropologie - Black Tie Heels

I love you with a passion. Oh Why, Oh why do you cost $398?????????

Dressing the part

Dress: Nine West via Ebay (originally seen at Macy's)
Shoes: Etienne Aigner

So I've become obsessed with dresses this year due to the fact that they are so easy to wear. Plus I don't really have to coordinate anything with them except the shoes and rare occasions of jewelry which I rarely wear except for small silver necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Yes, I could have updated this look with some cool platforms, but I was wearing this outfit to work.  My place of work is quite conservative so I had to opt for the flats.

love my dress

Dress: Tucker for Target

I love this dress because it is truly comfortable and cute.  The hubby doesn't like much because he says it's just too big on me.  I think it has to do with the cut of the dress but I'll still wear it.

Another day at the office

Dress: Gap, nyc
Scarf:  Gap
Shoes: Nine West
White shirt: Old Navy

I have decided to wear all my clothes as much as I can because I did some Spring cleaning and man do I have too many clothes. There aren't any many reasons or excuses for me to do any more shopping with an exception of a suit, but that can wait. I have plenty of jackets/blazer that I can wear.
