Guest Blogging

Hi all. I'm guest blogging over at Bella Remixes so stop by and check her blog. She posts her outfits on a daily basis and has been doing so for quite some time. Plus, she's just a really cool person whom I met at YLF's NYC meet up.  She asked me to post for her about Spring fashion since she'll be away, so I decided to give my perspective of the upcoming season.

When I think of Spring, I automatically think of flowers and color and blue skies.  So my take of the upcoming Spring fashions if prints but specifically prints with flowers on them.  Check out some of my florals that I've gotten and worn already and am hoping to transition them through the Spring and Summer.

Flashback Fridays - Best Rock Song of the 80s - That Romantics That's What I Like About You

This was one my favorite "Rock" songs of the 80s.  This song makes me smile every time I listen to it.  And I'm smiling right. Here are The Romantics with "What I Iike About You". Enjoy!

New York City and Back

I had a wonderful time meeting up with my new youlookfab friends in NYC.  I arrived on Friday night to nice weather and had a few hours to kill so I ended up walking the streets of the East Village to find a good meal.  I know I didn't want to go somewhere too crowded but wanted something wiht good atmosphere. I finally found a latin taperia called Macondo right next to my hotel and I'm so glad I did because my tapas dishes were excellent.

After leaving Macondo, I went straight back to Hotel East Houston to get some much needed rest. The hotel is a renovated old world building with beautiful modern decor. The lobby itself was to die for.

While the room was modern, quiet, comfortable and clean, it was quite small. I really didn't have a problem with the size since I knew I'd be out all day the next day. I thoroughly  enjoyed my stay there and would probably stay there again.

 Saturday

The group met at Le Pain Quitodien for breakfast and where' we finally met Angie, our YLF blogger/hostess/stylist/gorgeousness.

Next stop: shopping at SoHo, except I really didn't buy anything although there was a cute little leather jacket at the TopShop store but I let it go. My heart was not into shopping since Spring was around the corner.  I thought maybe I could find a cute bag or shoes, but I wasn't really inspired.

Lunch was at Rubirosa's, an italian/pizza place not far from shopping.   The restaurant was chosen by Mochi one of our fellow YLF-ers who made all the reservations for a large group of 16.  There was plenty of food from salad, to calamari, then spaghetti and meatballs and 4 large pies of pizza, and dessert of mini donut like pastry dipped in nuttella/chocolate. It was a fabulous meal for such a cold winters day.

Not a very flattering picture of me since I really don't like close up shots, but Angie looks wonderful.

Then it was off for more shopping at Zara where I found a little green top that looked pretty good on me.
The group finally split up around 6:00 and I was off for some more window shopping, a thai place for dinner, then back to the hotel for a much needed rest.

All in all, it was a great weekend.

Flashback Fridays - Wire Train "Chamber of Hellos" + OFF TO NYC!!

This group doesn't have a video on youtube but lots of live footage. I thought the concept of this video was quite interesting: I haven't seen a record player in such fine condition in a long time.  Enjoy and Happy Friday!

Meanwhile, I'll be leaving for NYC for the weekend to meet up some fine ladies from a fashion blog (www.youlookfab.com) I visit.  Unfortunately, I have no idea what to wear for tomorrow's meet up considering it will be snowing and sleeting all day.  Now how can you look fashionable outdoors in the cold?   And where the heck are my doc's when I need them?

I was planning to take my camera but I think I'll use the handy IPhone  Less to carry is best...just in case I decide to shop.

Evolution of Me and My Short Hair: 1977 - 1999

A big personal project I've been working on is collecting my old photos from childhood and beyond and scanning them to my computer. It doesn't make sense to hide them away only to look at them a few times every few years. I thought it was time to blow off the dust and bring them out.

Little did I know how much work was going to be involved especially since some photos had no dates. I guestimated a few and the challenge is to figure out when they were taken.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm getting so "Old School".  I actually miss photographs and developing of film.

Flashback Fridays - The Bongos "Number With Wings"

Sorry I've been MIA but it has been exceptionally crazy at work so no time for outfits posts, but always time for a flashback.

One of the greatest radio stations in the DC area was the (now defunct) 99.1 WHFS radio station that used to broadcast out of Baltimore. The station played great "Progressive" music of that time including The Smiths, Gene Loves Jezebel, and The Bongos.  If only that station can come back again. I think they have internet radio now but it's still not the same WHFS of the 80s.
