I had a wonderful time meeting up with my new
youlookfab friends in NYC. I arrived on Friday night to nice weather and had a few hours to kill so I ended up walking the streets of the East Village to find a good meal. I know I didn't want to go somewhere too crowded but wanted something wiht good atmosphere. I finally found a latin taperia called Macondo right next to my hotel and I'm so glad I did because my tapas dishes were excellent.
After leaving Macondo, I went straight back to Hotel East Houston to get some much needed rest. The hotel is a renovated old world building with beautiful modern decor. The lobby itself was to die for.
While the room was modern, quiet, comfortable and clean, it was quite small. I really didn't have a problem with the size since I knew I'd be out all day the next day. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and would probably stay there again.
Saturday
The group met at Le Pain Quitodien for breakfast and where' we finally met Angie, our YLF blogger/hostess/stylist/gorgeousness.
Next stop: shopping at SoHo, except I really didn't buy anything although there was a cute little leather jacket at the TopShop store but I let it go. My heart was not into shopping since Spring was around the corner. I thought maybe I could find a cute bag or shoes, but I wasn't really inspired.
Lunch was at Rubirosa's, an italian/pizza place not far from shopping. The restaurant was chosen by Mochi one of our fellow YLF-ers who made all the reservations for a large group of 16. There was plenty of food from salad, to calamari, then spaghetti and meatballs and 4 large pies of pizza, and dessert of mini donut like pastry dipped in nuttella/chocolate. It was a fabulous meal for such a cold winters day.
Not a very flattering picture of me since I really don't like close up shots, but Angie looks wonderful.
Then it was off for more shopping at Zara where I found a little green top that looked pretty good on me.
The group finally split up around 6:00 and I was off for some more window shopping, a thai place for dinner, then back to the hotel for a much needed rest.
All in all, it was a great weekend.
