Feeling Good Wednesday

The whole outfit: ATL
shoes: Tahari

For once I woke up on the RIGHT side of the bed.  :) I was just feeling good today and I hope it shows.

Now about my lighting situation, I definitely need to get a flash diffuser for my camera.  Direct flash is horrible when taking outfit photos.

RIP - R.E.M

This one is for all of you who loved this band growing up in the 80s and 90s.  All good things must come to an end, I suppose.  I'll post this now instead of Flashback Fridays because I'm just sooooo bummed out.

City Girl

faux leather jacket: Macy's
scarf: ATL
jeans: Levis skinny
wedge leopard print shoes: Tahari
bag: Anthropologie

This photo was taken in my hotel suite heading out to NYC on Saturday.  For once you can see some accessories on me (bag and scarf). I've notice that the way I dress lately depends on the mood I'm in.  It was chilly in the city with highs in the 60s (where did summer go???) so I'm glad I brought my jacket with me.

Need a new bag all year round bag. Anyone have any suggestions?

Flashback Fridays - Eyes of a Stranger

I remember how much I loved Valley Girl when I found the VHS tape at the local video store back in 1984.  After watching the movie, I "like totally" knew I wanted to be a Valley Girl and get a cool boyfriend like Randy (Nicholas Cage's character). Yes, I was living in a fantasy world at the age of 14 but I still can't help remembering those days of innocence and love.

Navy Blue

top: H&M
skirt: ATL
shoes: Mossimo

Here's an outfit I wore yesterday.  Once upon a time, I use to hate Navy because I had match everything and it had to be the right color of navy.  Now I love it to death and it's one of those color that look great with my skin tone and I can mix and match neutrals shoes and accessories. My, how times have changed.

I've been a bit busy with work. Plus we have our upcoming NYC trip (NYC Century Bike Tour) so I may not post for  few days.  I'm so excited about this long weekend because I get a chance to meet a nice gal and her hubby whom I met online (ww) and we seem to have much in common. Our bike ride/tour will be on Sunday morning and we plan on riding either the 35 or 50 mile ride through the 5 Burroughs.  What a different perspective of the city that will be and I hope to take lots of photos. (not bike outfit photos - LOL).!!

Today's Outfit

dress:  ATL Outlet
shoes: Nine West

It's still Summer after all.  I got away with wearing this dress today at work because it wasn't that busy and I had a little short jacket (not shown) to go along with it. I'm going to miss these warm days even though I pretty much froze my arse off with the AC blowing every day this Summer.

Still, I am looking forward to Fall: the cooler weather, the clothes, great boots, the colors, and Halloween of course.  The temps are supposed to drop down this week with a chance of high 50s in the evenings. Now that might be a bit too soon for col weather, don't ya think?

Why Are Hobbies So Expensive?

For a person like me who's so worried about finances, I did a very bad thing: I splurged on an expensive $$$$K road bike.  IT WASN'T EVEN CLOTHES. What was I thinking?  I do have my reasons though:

  1. It's a great health benefit and since I'm into exercise these days, it's one more activity added to my list
  2. My old bike has had 5 flats in 4 weeks and it was time to get a new one
  3. I use it for commuting to work
  4. It will probably last me longer than my car
  5. I love those long rides with my hubby
  6. I've met some great people along the way
  7. And finally we get to go to NYC for the Century Bike Tour next weekend to do the 35 mile tour, maybe 55. How exciting is that to bike NYC and the 5 Burroughs in one day,  then the rest of the weekend to shop for Fall items? (with what $$$ - lol)
So are these good enough reasons? I should hope so.

Flashback Fridays - Golden Brown

The Stranglers - "Golden Brown"

Here's a great song that I used to listen back in the day.  This band rarely got played on the radio but I remember the video well from those old Friday Night Videos (no cable tv).  The song/band was never considered pop or punk or new wave.  I guess they had their own style. Enjoy.

Thursday Outfit

necklace: Banana Republic
dress: Ann Taylor loft
Shoes: Mossimo

Back to work and work wear.  Sometimes a nice wrap dress makes me  feel so great. It's just so simple. All I have to do is add some nice accessories.

Dreary Wednesday

Rain Rain Go Away....

The dreary weather is upon us for a WHOLE week.  I don't know how to dress for it because there's a chill in the air and knowing the East coast, it will be cool one week and hot the next.  Time to get into my storage boxes and starting taking out the cardigans.

Days of Summer

 dress:  Banana Republic
shoes:???

Summer is almost over. It's too bad but at least I can wear this midi halter sundress for a bit longer. I found this at the new consignment shop in our area and fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on. It fit like a glove.  I've only worn it once but I'm thinking I can still get a few more uses out of it this month. I could layer for the Fall but it's a little on the thin side since it's just a beautifully soft, thin silk.

Flashback Fridays

It's Friday once again and as usual I've been reminiscing of days long gone. One song in particular has stuck in my head ever since I heard it last night at the I Street Social Bike Ride here in DC.

After hearing the mixed version of the song "Fever" with "The Passenger" at tonights I Street Social Bike Ride, all I wanted to hear was The Passenger song either by Iggy Pop or Siouxie and the Banshees. I opted for the Iggy Pop version:

Iggy Pop - The Passenger (Live at Manchester Apollo 1977)

Casual Days

top: ATL
skinny jeans: Levis
shoes: ATL

This month at work has been quite casual and so it means that the month of September will be back to office attire.  I need do need to accessorize more.  Funny thing is I have lots of jewelry but not a lot of bags.  If anyone has any ideas of what cool bags are in style this year, please let me know? I'll also need a bicycle friendly bag too since I commute to work with my bicycle.
