The Blackberry Belles

If anyone gets a chance to see this band, The Blackberry Belles,  please do so.  They are sheer genius down to the level of Ray Davies of the Kinks.  As soon as I heard them, I just knew they were my new favorite band.   I'm here with Tony, lead singer, of the great band above and have posted a little video from the show at the Black Cat in DC. Music is Life.

No outfit post today because I haven't had time to download anything so I'll ramble on about my so called life.

What was I thinking this morning? I took my bike to work this morning only to be hit with steam in my face. I knew it was going to be warm out but I didn't realize that at 8:40 a.m. it was 88 degrees which felt like 99 and by the time I got to work, I was soaking wet. I had to stop off at the gym to dry off.

After yesterday's excitement of seeing Ian Somerhalder, today's schedule will be just as good. Work will be fairly quiet which gives me a chance to catch up on paperwork, then a long lunch break at the gym and then afterwards meeting up with a good friend for drinks, dinner and then our SO's will join us for a concert.

We're going to see Blackberry Bells at the Black Cat, a local band that plays incredible garage/blues/soul/ 60's twang rock and roll. Check them out here at this link to hear a bit of their music. It's A Good Day!!

This is sooo NOT fashion related so forgive me for blogging nonsense stuff.


I feel like a teenager today. Why? Because of these things:

• High point of the day - Got to meet Ian Somerhalder of Lost / Vampire Diaries fame. Total hotness although a bit scrawny which I'm assuming most actors are.   I look horrible of course, wearing a suit because of a work function.  I hate suits!

• I felt like a giggly teenager taking a photo with him. Hello...how old am I?
• Friend from Baltimore said the Pschedelic Firs are coming to concert in September- talk about a blast from my teenage past. Already saw them in the early 2000's. I'll have to think about this.

I guess it's going to be a good day.

This is not the usual post about weight gain for once, but let's turn it the other way: I've lost 25 lbs. to be exact and it has taken approximately 1.5 -2 years to get here. I still have 5 lbs. until goal and that will be the hardest to maintain. Yes. This is a great accomplishment and one that I thought I would never get to., but weight loss can bring upon other problems such as:

• favorite clothes that are too big, i.e. pants above are 1.5 sizes to big so my tummy looks huge.
• no time to get anything altered. 
• it's too costly to replace everything.
• and the major thing, my face looks all saggy and gaunt. That's the worst. I look old.  (Hence the far away photos)

Anyway, I'll still take being skinny over a saggy face any day.

This was an outfit I wore for casual-Friday.  In this type of heat, there's no way I was wearing a jacket or a cardigan.  

Funny thing is that I never wore skirts or dresses until this past year, but I realize how versatile they are and you can dress them down or dress them up.

Another dress from another day

I've had this dress since late 90s. The funny thing is I don't think I ever wore it but kept it all this time because I loved the style of the dress. Do you do that?   I have clothes that no longer fit but am keeping because I love the stylized design of it. I know. I'm weird that way.  This dress has stayed me with through both my thick and thin stages. Now I can finally say it  fits pretty darn well.

I was looking through my closet and realize I have way too many dresses that I haven't worn in quite some time. Here is one of them.  I remember how much I obsessed over this dress when I saw it in the Anthropologie catalog and when I went to the store they were sold out.  It was so disappointing.

Then I happened to find this lovely piece on Ebay for a steal. Ebay is my go to place for incredible deals at discount prices.  Plus I always support the small business owner.

Luckily, the dress still fits as I've lost a few more pounds since the purchase.  

Time for a haircut...(more short hair goddesses)

My hair right now which is getting bit bushy in the this humid weather.  I know it's still pretty short, but may go shorter with a pixie.  Ah, decisions, decisions!!!

Good news on the weight loss front!!

The day started of really great when I ventured to my ww meeting to find out I had lost another 1.4 lbs. and  a grand total loss of 25 lbs. as of 2 years ago. Wow.  How time flies.  I still have 4.8 lbs. left to my goal and I think I can manage it if I stay true to myself and keep up with my activities and healthy eating. Plus, I haven't been this weight since I was in my early 20s and feels really DAMN great. (BTW, I'm not in my 30s anymore either.  :)  

Today, dh and I decided to stick around our DC neighborhood and venture out to Columbia Heights for a Target run, and quick lunch at Julia's Empanadas.  I had the jamaican beef while dear hubs had the vegetarian, spinach. We also had a small gazpacho soup and small salad that came with our meal.

My outfit was not great and I had helmet head from riding our bikes.  Some people just look good on a bike. I am not one of those people.

I know it's been a week since my last post but because I take so many photos and not just for fashion purposes, I had to purchase a new external hard drive to store all my photos.  Unfortunately, the hard drive tipped over and started making funny whirring noises, causing me to question why it was doing that. So I asked my lovely hubby to check it out only to find out that I had a hard crash. WHAT???? You mean I lost all my photos?  Luckily, we have Time Machine to back up all the photos but  for a second there I thought I lost every precious photo.

Celebrity Hair Crush

One of my favorite actresses is Ginnifer Goodwin with her cute short hair perkiness. I want her hair and her clothes and in about 2 weeks, I will definitely get something similar.

Short hair grows too fast and I have to touch it up every 2 months to keep the style. Sometimes I miss longer hair, but when I think about the humidity here in DC, I'm perfectly happy with it.

Holiday Shopping

I did some damage this weekend and stopped by Anthropologie to check out the sale racks.  That was a big no-no because I ended up with this lovely polka dot dress and some shorts which I will post later.  Not sure if I'll keep the dress yet but it does fit like a glove.
